This was unfortunately a quick trip to Halifax. The weather did not agree with us, as usual, but we were able to see some lovely faces that I missed desperately.
Day 3: Lunch with the Grannies
On Monday the Grannies had us over to their place for lunch. They made a delicious chicken Cesar salad and we had a key lime pie for dessert. It was just nice to spend an afternoon catching up with them, and feeling loved by them. I love a Grandma's love; it really is one of the best kinds. After lunch I fell asleep in my Nan's gorgeous pink chair, while Eric helped Granny set up her Kobo on her computer. Then they took us to another of my favourite places to see when I go home: Fisherman's Cove. A friend of the family owns a little store down there right now, with some of my mom's stuff in it, so we went down to say hi and take a look.
It was a really nice and quiet afternoon. It's so handy for us to have both Grandmas in the same place now, and to get to visit them both each time we go home.
Day 4: Megan!
On Tuesday we spent a fun day with Megan. We had lunch at a restaurant on the water, then took the ferry across to Halifax for some fun. We went to a new frozen yogurt place Megan wanted to show us, and then we just wondered around together. That really is my favourite thing to do in Halifax.
Megan and Eric are two of my favourite people I have found in this life. Megan is a good friend I met when I moved half way across the country and started high school in a brand new place. She is one of those great friends who, if you're lucky enough to find, you never loose touch with. She was a bridesmaid at my wedding, and she will always play a big role in my life.
A really great thing about Megan right now for me is how well she gets along with Eric. When Eric joined my life, Megan never felt (or at least acted) threatened or jealous. She has always been supportive of my decision to marry him, and when I get together with her, she's always willing to spend a little time with him too (and he with her). With the troubles I've had lately of keeping in touch with good friends, and especially my friends who aren't married, it is always a breath of fresh air to spend time with her. It makes me so happy that I can share these two favourites of mine with each other. Just take a look for yourself...
I know, I love them both! Oh, and I was there too.
Then after all that we dropped Eric at the mall, and Megan and I went for manicures and pedicures and a little girl time. I just cannot get enough of this Megan. I miss her terribly, being all the way across the country.
