Last Saturday in our fit of exhaustion and our exchange of frustrations and hardships, I asked Eric to pack the diaper bag. For the first time in the 5 months Cecelia has been around, I expressed how exhausting it is to be responsible for her and I every time we leave the house. I gave Eric specific instructions about what should be packed in the bag. These are the things we cannot leave the house without:
- both nipple shields washed and in their buckets
- my nursing cover
- stocked diapers and wipes
- a facecloth
- a change of clothes
- her hat and sweater
- grip water and a siringe
- extra soothers
- my Motillium
- a toy and a blanket for the girl
- my wallet and keys and cell phone
- the camera if we're going somewhere special
He was very willing, and packed Cecelia and all her things up for me that morning.
You want to know what else? He's done it every outing since then as well. There are times when all I have to do is express my frustrations out loud and they are looked after. I have a wonderful husband and Cecelia has a wonderful dad. Why do I sometimes forget this?

The Start of a New Year
As I mentioned before, September is usually the unofficial start of a new year for Eric and I (as opposed to the traditional January 1st). Well today we made it official. This was a great last weekend of the summer, and we finished off by spending and afternoon in the park, setting goals and resolutions for this year. We each set physical, spiritual, financial and educational goals. Then we came together and set one of each for our family unit. We had some really great talks and it was a lot of fun. A great way to end the summer, and kick start this new and exciting season and time.
Eric took me to a place I've never been, here in Calgary. It was the Calgary Olympic Plaza downtown. Calgary hosted the winter Olympics in 1988, so there are lots of neat little monuments and plaques down there, as well as a great view of the Calgary tower, and a cute little fountain.
It also happened to be right off of one of my favourite streets/spots in Calgary. Stephen Ave. (starts out as Eighth Ave.) is almost all walking street, and it is lined with really nice restuarants and a couple of shops. If you're looking for somewhere to eat, that isn't Jack Astor's or something lame, Stephen's is a good spot to check. In fact, Eric and I accidently bumped into a spot I've wanted to show him for a over a year. I was taken on a date here once, a really long time ago, and want to share it with Eric now. It's really good and interesting food, and I knew it was in the bottom of a hotel, but that's all I knew. I found it though, and we will go there soon.

100!
This is my one hundredth post on this blog. In my mind, things like this should be recognized, and not looked over. Every little accomplishment counts, and I am satisfied and happy with the way that I've kept track of my life with Eric, and separate from him. I've done better at getting out my camera, and gotten better at saying what I want to say so that Eric and I have a real record of things as they really are, and have been.
Having said that, I am not one to share personal details. I know some people are, and that's fine, but I'm not one for reading personal details either. Putting it out there is not my style. However, I do feel that I (and Eric as well) have experienced things that are hard; which can sometimes feel lonely. If anyone who reads this is doubting that, don't. If there's one thing I've learned in the last year or two, it's that everyone has it as hard as you do. No matter what you're going through, don't ever believe that a) you are alone and have no one to talk to or share things with, because I guarantee that someone around you is thinking the same thing and needing the same thing or b) that anyone else is luckier than you or has it easier than you, because they don't.
I've learned that it is so so so (infinitely) important to be grateful for the things that you do have, and if you're brave and strong and courageous enough, to someday also be grateful for the things that are tough. It's is so important to just stick to your own life and make it what you can. It is so important to celebrate with those we love, and not to let envy cloud our judgement. I have people I've been jealous of, I have lives I've been jealous of, and I have talents I've been jealous of. I am grateful for the people in my life who have let me in enough to see their struggles, so that I can truly come to learn how to celebrate their accomplishments with them. I am grateful for those I know who struggle, and who still hold on to those things that make them seem special and remarkable to all who don't know the rest of the story.
This has turned into a longer entry than I thought it would be, but here's what I want to do for my 100th post this afternoon. So, in celebration of this hundredth post, on one of those lower and downer days I have sometimes, I want to make a list of 100 things that I love and am grateful for. Gratitude is important, and I'm glad I have at least enough perspective to remember that right now.

#11 Rainbow Haven Beach
We have quite a few good memories out at this beach. I've been here with just about every friend I have from Nova Scotia, and Eric as well. The summer he lived here we went there for more than a few midnight swims. Actually, I think he's only been there once in daylight.
Today, after the park and intense game of ultimate frisbee, we went out to the beach to play. It was a gorgeous day. Warm weather, light breeze and not a blinding amount of sun. In fact, the apparently "cloudy" morning we spent at the park turned us all much pinker than the afternoon at the beach. We all came home with rosy cheeks, and necks, and arms.The water, however, was freezing! Given that our pool in Wolfville is about 28 degrees Celsius, and the kids swim everyday at the public pool across the road that's the same, I literally can't even begin to guess how cold this water really was. We had fun on the sand though, and played together for couple good hours.

#5 Point Pleasant Park
Point Pleasant Park is somewhere we went a couple of times with friends, the summer Eric was living here before. The boys all loved it because it was in the city and there was lots of space to run and hike and play frisbee and throw a ball. The girls loved it because there are really cool old pieces of buildings and forts, and lots of good photo opportunities. This morning we went out with dad and the kids to take advantage of both of those things.
We called it The Pinsent-Persson (featuring a Pilling) Picnic at Point Pleasant Park. Today was supposed to be the warmest and sunniest of the week, but when we woke up it didn't seem that way. The clouds were looming. When we got to the park, it turned up a little, and got very very hot. We explored the waterfront, ate some sandwiches, and then ended with a four-on-four game of ultimate frisbee.

#14 The Monkey Show
When I was young I used to read a set of books called Tom and Pippo. They were about a small boy and his sock monkey. I loved those books, but they're not in print anymore. Now I love sock monkeys. I told Eric about this set of books one time, and he didn't even know what a sock monkey was. When I Googled it and showed him pictures, he still didn't really get it. We found some socks that were perfect, and decided we were going to make one. That was like a year and a half ago I think.
I'm sure I mentioned this place before. The Monkey Show is a little place in Halifax where you can get a sock monkey kit, and make it there. It's like Build-a-Bear for sock monkeys. Eric and I tried to go there a couple times, but it never worked out. It was closed the one time we got there. Then at the tall ships festival we saw a booth for the shop, and took a look at the kits. Everyone wanted one, so we decided to make an evening of it.
Let me tell you, this evening was a show of monkeys. It was a ton of fun though! I only got this far on my monkey though, he still doesn't have arms, a face, or a tail. Maybe he'll get those in another year or so.

#12 Halifax Nova Scotia LDS Temple
We did go to the temple last week with Luke and the family, to do baptisms. Eric and I wanted to go alone to do a full endowment session, before he goes home to Calgary. He's been to this temple a lot. Him and a good friend came every Wednesday morning when they were living here for the summer in 2009. I've never been through all of this temple before. I really wanted us to get the chance to do it together, and we've been meaning to for so long. You know how life gets sometimes.
We went to see Batman last night and so it was a late night. This morning we slept in, got up slowly and wandered around, until I reaslised that we wanted to go today. There is only morning sessions today, and I have a bridal shower to go to tomorrow, and then Eric leaves the next day. It was about ten to 11:00am when we realised this, and the session started at 11:30. I jumped in the shower really fast without getting my hair wet, we dressed and got ready and made it just in time. We even had a couple of minutes to sit before it started and to relax and feel the spirit there.
I love being in the temple with my husband. Sometimes life stresses us or overwhelms us before we get there, and we lose some of the experience. I think today was a good day though. #13 Halifax Metro Ferry
There is a walk-on ferry that goes from the Dartmouth side of the harbour, over to the Halifax side, right into downtown. It's just a 5 r 6 minute ride really, but it's just a way to get there that's a little more fun than the bus or the car. Get out and feel the extreme amount of wind in your hair. Today was a very windy day!
Eric has never taken this ferry before so I decided to take him on it today. I take everyone who comes into town on the ferry because it's just an easy and fun up close way to experience the waterfront.
So we waited in line for a long time for the ferry. I look pictures and Eric played Pocket Frogs. Then we got on the ferry and rode over to Halifax. We walked the board walk and got another couple glances at some tall ships, and had a very extensive conversation about when a boat becomes a ship and what that includes.

#10 Halifax Tall Ships Festival
When we moved out to Wolfville, and found out that we might be going home after that, there were a couple of things on our Halifax List that I thought we wouldn't be able to get to. The Halifax Jazz Festival was one we missed out on because it was a weekend we were home in Wolfville. I thought that we would miss out on the Tall Ships Festival this year, but we didn't! We got to go to it, and even got to enjoy it with basically the whole family.
I was pretty excited that I remembered to wear this necklace, from Pink Vintage Treasures, today. It was so fitting for the occasion.
#10 Halifax Tall Ships Festival - Check!
Then we went into my favourite antique store downtown and everyone found something in there to fascinate and intrigue them for a couple of minutes. Luke found cufflinks, which is cool because a few weeks ago he wouldn't even wear a white dress shirt for church, and now he likes finding new cufflinks for the one mom found him to wear. Eric found a rubix cube. Emma and Hannah found some dishes and binoculars and things. Abby and Victoria found some pins and patches for their backpacks. My mom and I just love everything. These were cool to look at though, right after the tall ships.
Then we had to do some shopping. My stupid power cord for my computer finally gave up for good. We've been jiggling and wiggling it for months now to get it to work, and not it's all done. I hate buying things like that. Then we bought a big duffle bag at Costco. I love Costco and I love this bag. Eric and I went on a trip to Costco a few days before coming here and we found cutlery there that we both love. We've been searching for that since we first registered for wedding gifts and have found nothing! These sets were perfect and affordable. Then we found them a month or two later here at Costco, and then my parents bought it too. We also found this bag there but didn't really need it.
Now we do, to get some extra stuff home to Calgary, so we bought it!
