#5 Point Pleasant Park

Point Pleasant Park is somewhere we went a couple of times with friends, the summer Eric was living here before. The boys all loved it because it was in the city and there was lots of space to run and hike and play frisbee and throw a ball. The girls loved it because there are really cool old pieces of buildings and forts, and lots of good photo opportunities. This morning we went out with dad and the kids to take advantage of both of those things.
We called it The Pinsent-Persson (featuring a Pilling) Picnic at Point Pleasant Park. Today was supposed to be the warmest and sunniest of the week, but when we woke up it didn't seem that way. The clouds were looming. When we got to the park, it turned up a little, and got very very hot. We explored the waterfront, ate some sandwiches, and then ended with a four-on-four game of ultimate frisbee.

Random Happenings in Dartmouth

So we're in Dartmouth, with the parents. Eric goes home tomorrow, and this week has just been mellow and fun with the family.

 (1) I drove by my parents' old house the other day. I dropped something off for my sister at her friend's house and I had to go by and take a picture and remember things for a moment.

(2) We had a big brunch on Sunday morning before church. We had German Pancakes.

(3) We spent almost the entire day on Tuesday in fabric stores and thrift stores for inspiration and materials for Mom's new line of recycled leather bags, for the Halifax Seaport Market.

(4) I bought a few pairs of lovely beads at the thrift store and wore the yellow ones when we went to see the new Batman movie on Tuesday night. It was very good!

(5) At Value Village my mom found a swimming suit exactly like the one I had when I was that size. 

(6) Eric and I played Catan for the first time in a long time. I won, for the first time in an even longer time. 

(7) We ate Almost Foot Long Hot Dogs for dinner one night. They were kind of overrated, but still fun.

(8) We opened the last jar of peanut butter in the house, and it was a Spread the Feeling jar. Eric and I have a special history with this add, that maybe I'll tell you someday.

Lately I've been on Instagram

I am basically dying without the Internet, and am so unimpressed with the company. They've been booked for two appointments already since we moved and cancelled one and then didn't show up for the other, but tried to say they did. Claimed that he was banging on all the windows and doors and no one answered. Ummm hello, but there are 7 people living in the house who are each anxiously awaiting your arrival, no one saw you. Ugh.
Anyway, I have an awful confession to make. Knowing that I've been unable to blog for like two whole weeks has made me a little awful using my camera. I don't take it out as much as I should.
Good news: Instagram! This has maybe saved me from my camera laziness, and presented to me a whole new photographic issue. I think I take pictures of dumb things. Confession #2. I had no idea how to work it til like two weeks ago and used it mainly just because it made some pictures on my phone look cool and then I used them as backgrounds. I just realised that @ tags someone in it, and still really don't understand the # concept. I also with there was a way to edit posts you've already made. But now that I've absent from here, and just dreading this massive recap post I have to do, I've been a little obsessed with using Instagram to keep a running tab on everything I would want to include here.
So here it is: what I am able to remember of the last couple weeks because I kept up on Instagram.

(1) I went to the Farmers' Market last Saturday with some new things. These beautiful new decorative jar lids are a hit. I think they're the cutest. 

(2) This skirt was one of my favourite recent thrift store finds. It used to be ankle length on me, but mamma shortened it for me. 

(3) Sunday was a tough day for me. Eric and I sat out on the trampoline, not for very long, but enjoyed the gorgeous evening and had a really good talk.

(4) Then we played a couple of fun card and dice games with my family, and that lightened everything up just enough.

(5) Monday, I got new paints! They were on sale this week so I went and picked up a couple of fun new colours, and then some of the good classics. Then I painted a few canvases for tomorrow's market.

(6) Tuesday morning Eric and I had the first spoon of homemade strawberry jam on toast.

(7) Lots of time spent in the pool and catching some sun.

(8) I got a new necklace from Vintage Pink Treasure at the market on Saturday. Sarah is leaving soon for maternity leave, so tomorrow is her last day there!

(9) Tuesday we also went with my mom to a store called Wild Lilly here in Wolfville. My very favourite treasure was this big floor mat with a couple lines of the alphabet in different fonts. 

(10) Wednesday the kids came for a visit while my mom presented at Youth Conference here. We swam in the pool a lot, and then played some games and ate pizza. 

(11) Wednesday night, while I was stuck in the little bookstore, I decided I need to read more. I started that. 

(12) When I haven't been doing different fun little things, I've been in the sun. The sun is my best friend these days, and keeps me company while Eric is at work in the afternoons. I'm having a hot affair with the sun!

I love a week when there is something nice to say about everyday. Today is Friday the 13th, so it's a good thing I've already had a really good morning with Eric. Whatever happens now can't ruin that. We slept in a little, then had a good workout at the gym, then swam and read scriptures, and just had a really good pasta lunch before he took off for the doors. Umm...What else?

It's been a while so I was trying to think about what I would talk about next. I love pictures. Sometimes they're the only things to keep me on track and help me remember what's happened. I really need to get better at this blogging thing so I can remember the words that go with the pictures.
My youngest sister planted a garden last weekend. She found a patch that was unloved at the side of the house and mom and Emma and I went with her to pick out the flowers for it. It was so fun to watch her enjoy it. I kind of want a garden now.

 My oldest sister played her last high school rugby game. They were just about ready for the provincials, but that was a tough game. Both teams really did play good games, but I get Halifax came out on top. She's off to play for UofL in September though. Yeah!

 I started a few fun craft projects, and a few of them didn't really work. At all. But my mom's creative brain came through one last time and I found a thing that will really work.

 Work for us. I manned my mom's booth at the Halifax Seaport Market on Saturday, and now her and I have come up with the thing that can put me at a table right next to her's this Saturday coming. It's going to be epic. Stay tuned.

Rachel

Rachel is my sister. She plays rugby, and she's pretty good too. Yesterday was her last regular season game and I didn't even get to see her play. I tried hard to. Mom came and got me, traffic slowed us down and we missed almost half the game. When we did get there a girl from the team ran out to meet us and told us that the ambulance was on it's way. Rachel got hit really hard and hit the ground and passed out.
It was a clean hit, so no hard feelings, but still a bit scary for Mom. Anyway, we got to the field and this is Rachel. She's fine.

 This is Rachel's team. They're good! Play offs start next week!

Easter Sunday
