Here are a few of my favourite or most memorable moments from 2013.
We started our own small business - a commercial cleaning company |
I got the worst flew I have ever had and was in bed for a full two weeks |
Eric won $1,000 for an accounting case competition at school. |
The penny went out of circulation. |
We took our first Calgary staycation for Valentine's Day and realized all over again how much we love this city we live in. |
We served in the nursery in our ward for about 6 months and had a ton of fun doing it. It was sad to move from that ward. |
We finally moved out of Eric's parents' basement - hopefully for good. We met with a mortgage broker as well and thought about buying, but we are just renting. We are loving our place. |
We bought grown up real furniture for our place. This is our couch. |
And a king size bed, which we are very excited about as well. We are kind of bed snobs now. |
I was called to serve with the Young Women in our new ward, which I love even more than nursery if you can believe it. |
Eric graduated from university with his BBA in Accounting. |
My dad turned 50 and we took a trip home to Halifax to surprise him for his party. |
Then we went to NYC as an anniversary, graduation, last summer without kids (without really knowing that for sure) trip. |
When we got home from that trip I spent a week sick and tired and at the end of that week we were surprised to find out that a little baby was growing inside me - I was about 6 weeks along when we found out. |
We ran the Calgary colour run - except I didn't actually run because I was 13 weeks pregnant and really really sick. That's when we decided to let everyone find out. |
I finally made friends with (and rekindled friendships with) some really great girls. I have been lacking in girlfriends since getting married and moving to Calgary. I finally found a good group of girls who do good things and are good friends to have. Eric did the same with a few good guys and we've enjoyed spending time on ourselves and doing things we like separately for the first real time since we've been married. |
Eric started his real accounting job at Grant Thornton, and then stated his designation. It kept him very very busy for his first module. |
We finally got Eric a real wedding band - he finally picked one out. I had to get a ring on that finger so that no cute accounting girls at Grant Thornton get any ideas. |
We got Costco memberships! Our very own. |
We hosted people at our house for Thanksgiving - all our east coast friends who live here now with us. I still didn't cook though - I wouldn't dare try that yet. |
One of my favourite parts about this year was setting up for Christmas. I love decorating my house and have so so much enjoyed making it my own this year. Setting up our very first Christmas tree together this year, and putting up garland and a wreath and mistletoe of my very own was probably one of the highlights of my year. |
2013 was the biggest year Eric and I have had together, and probably the biggest I can remember. We have so many great things that got started for us this year and that will bring much more happiness and excitement for us in 2014. I am really excited for where Eric and I are together, and for what we have enjoyed and accomplished individually this year. I am of course excited for our coming baby, and for all the other bumps and surprises that may come along the way.
