Reunion

We had our prenatal reunion class tonight. I try to see these girls once a week as it is, but last night was nice to have all the husbands and all the women and all the babies in one room together. It was good conversation, and good company. It's so nice (and also essential) to have friends who are at or around the same stages as you are, and comfortable talking about them, while you're going through all the massive changes a new baby brings.
It was really nice to hear everyone's stories and to talk about how things are going now for all of us. The moms seem to have all naturally fallen in to their roles, and it's so fun to see us all just plugging along doing what we need to do for those babies. Babies are growing well and developing into their own little human selves. Even the dad's seem just a little bit brighter with their babies in their arms. It was a really nice evening.
I'm really glad I've stayed in contact with these women. I can't tell you enough (all you future moms out there) how important it is to find and cling to those supports. I am such an advocate of this, that I really hope some of you, my friends who are expecting or close to having babies or are thinking about getting pregnant (or even married), can feel comfortable asking me any question you have, or talking to me about anything you need to. I used to have a hard time sharing things because I thought no one really cared, and I didn't want to burden anyone else with what was going on in my life. I now realise that it is not a burden to hear about other people's struggles, but sometimes a relief - a breath of fresh air.
