Today was Canada Day and we spent it at Grandma and Grandpa's - big surprise. Eric and all the guys worked on doing the roof, and Cecelia and I played with all the girls and other kids. I of course made my family dress in red and white and take a family photo, which they are getting very cooperative with.
Then as I was trying to get a picture of my baby girl, I was getting annoyed because she wouldn't keep her legs down so I could get her shirt, and then she found her toes. This is the firs time she found them, and she's been very fond of them since. Lying on her back, she's just about always got her toes in her hands.
Then we went inside and I laid her on her new quilt that Grandma just finished for her this week, and she rolled on to her tummy. She made it look so easy. It was like "why haven't you been doing this all along?" In one smooth motion she went from her back to her side to her belly. I called Eric in from the garage to watch her do it again, but no luck. We stared at her for a few minutes and nothing happened. Then as we looked away to the TV we look back and she'd done it again. I'm sure by the time Eric gets to see her do it, we'll be saying "she's moving all over the place, I wish she'd just stay still."
For now though, we celebrate all her little victories and these were a couple of big ones.
That night Cecelia slept well in her car seat on the way home so we waited until 11 and went for a walk to see if we could see the fireworks that were going on at a park near our house. I love fireworks, and they (along with a nice warm walk with my husband and baby) were the perfect end to a lovely day.
