It has been really interesting to watch Cecelia develop in her eating habits. We started her with a rice cereal that was practically a liquid. She was basically drinking it, but it was even interesting to watch her learn what a spoon in her mouth felt like.
Slowly we have started to expand her food options to include purees of basically every vegetable you could imagine - they make purees of foods that I could never have decided to put in my mouth on my own. She's now moved on to small chunks of things, and she is doing so well. It's been so interesting watching her go from pushing the food around a bit on her tray, to picking up pieces with her little fingers. She still struggles to get them in hand and then up to her mouth and in without dropping them, but when she does she's pretty happy about it.
She hasn't shown any preferences (or otherwise) for any foods we've introduced yet, which I think is a big blessing. I know that babies can sometimes be picky with food, but Cecelia does not yet seem to be that way. She eats Cheerios, pieces of peaches and little pieces of avocado, and peas the most. She actually really likes the peas, which makes mamma happy. I hate peas so much I almost considered not forcing her to go through having to eat those. I decided I should introduce them early though, and maybe get her to like them. That seems to have worked, and I think it's hilarious. She picks each tiny pea up and works it up to her mouth with such effort. I am really loving doing food with her.
Bonus: feeding her is helping me remember that I need to eat to. Win Win.
