Strawberry Fields Forever.

Sorry, that just needed to be done. It just felt so necessary and appropriate.
Every year my family takes a few trips out to the valley for different things. Strawberry picking in July, raspberries late that month, apples in September and pumpkins late that month. Yesterday was Strawberry Day.

And this is the whole point of it all:
Homemade strawberry jam. And now I know how to make it. I came home with my family yesterday so that I could learn how to make jam with my mom. It was tons of fun. My mom and my dad and I made 6 batches of jam last night. That's 25 jars, and the fridge is still full of bowls of strawberries. I actually think that I might know how to make jam now. I think I might even be able to do it on my own someday. I feel like today I took a big step toward being a grown up, a real good wife and mother. It felt really good. I'm here at my parents' house now until Monday. Eric is coming out on Saturday night after work.
I love lists, you may know that. I'm making it official. I have made a list of things that I want to learn from my mom while I'm here. Now I know how to make jam, Eric's favourite at least. At the end of the month, I'll learn raspberry which is my favourite.
