Long Weekend

This weekend turned out to be the perfect time for me to come home. Eric has started a new job at which he works from 7am-7pm usually everyday, except Sundays. Because this weekend was a long weekend, he got Saturday and Monday off as well. So he was able to prepare our room for me to come home on Saturday, and the I got to spend all of Sunday and Monday with him before he went back to work. It worked well because I didn't actually realise how much I missed him until I was home with him and did not want to let him go. I was attached at the hip. I just love the man I married. Spending a weekend with him and his family made me realise that it doesn't have to be sad and scary to leave Halifax, because I have people here who love me just as much as they do. It was perfect.
We went down to Cardston and saw Grandma and Grandpa Atwood. Their house is always a lovely place to be. When we're there we're surrounded by family, and always have a good time (with good food). Then Monday we headed to Waterton for a hike and a picnic. That was lovely as well.
Then we got to stop at the legendary Glenwood Cheese Factory for ice cream.  The family talks about this place every time we go to the south and Eric and I have made a few attempts to get there, but have never made it. Today was a good day for the first time. It was 31 degrees Celcius today and I think we earned it with our 8km hike.
The less enjoyable parts of the weekend: I got home really early Sunday morning, then fasted for the day. Then had to ride in a car for 2.5 hours (and I get really car sick on a good day, no food is a bad day!). Then went to bed and got up the next morning to do an 8km hike in dry Alberta air, at about 3000ft (when I've been living for 3 months at about 50ft probably, with a ton of humidity in the air). It certainly took it out of me, and I think I used the phrase, "Eric, I'm not going to make it up there" about 100 times. Not to mention the fact that I kept checking my shoulders to see if I needed some sunscreen (because I thought we were mostly in the shade), and it didn't look like I did, until the evening. I definitely should have.
Hopefully the fun memories and good times spent with my wonderful family will last longer than the pain from this stupid sunburn!
