Today was another ultrasound - this one was to consider all the factors necessary to determine if I am a good candidate for a vaginal breech delivery or not - things like baby's weight and position and such. They had to do a couple of tests on the baby to make sure things are going well with him/her in general. One was to see 3 spontaneous movements in 30 minutes. We saw one as soon as we got started, but then baby was slow for the rest of the time. The tech asked if it was normally slow this time of day, and I said yes - babe tends to me most active early morning and late at night - but she still needed to see those movements to pass me. I told her I hadn't been feeling well today and therefore hadn't eaten very much and wondered if that might have something to do with it. She got me a juice and a granola bar and left me for a minute to see if those would help. I ate and drank and told baby that I really needed it to move for us. Told it that I knew it was healthy (and was sorry for not feeding it well today) and that the doctors needed to see it. When she came back in I laid on the table, she squirted the gel and there was baby just swimming around loving life. We got more than the movement we needed to see.
After the ultrasound I met with a doctor they have in clinic to kind of summarize the results for me. She showed me the position of the baby - which is right now in an incomplete breech position - and that the weight is approximately right around 7 lbs.
Everything she told me were things we wanted to hear. I honestly don't even know what kind of doctor she is, or what her qualifications were (I maybe should have asked that), but she seemed to think that everything looked good. We are good candidates baby and I.
Next Thursday I'll meet again at the hospital, with the same doctor as yesterday, and we will go over the results. She will ultimately need to make the decision about whether she thinks I am or am not appropriate for the delivery, but I am fairly confident everything is going to be just fine.
