Back when Eric and I were just engaged, all those months ago, I told Eric I wanted a sock monkey and he looked at me with a blank blank stare. I actually had to Google it and teach him about what they are. Can you believe that? Anyway, I did that he was a doll and got all the stuff in a shoe box together for us to make one. We still have not done that. So this morning we went out to #14 on the list, The Monkey Show. It's a cute little shop on Queen Street where you can make sock monkeys. It's like Build-a-Bear, for monkeys..you get it. We've been trying to get here since our anniversary, but I've gone once and it was past hours, and this morning when we got there it was closed. The sign said 10-5 but it was mysteriously dark and quiet. It was sad.
So we went instead to the Economy Shoe Shop for lunch. This restaurant means a lot to me. I first found it about 5 years ago when one of my very good friends came to visit me in Halifax, and it's been a special guest kind of place ever since. Eric took me there the night we got engaged, because he knew how much it meant to me. this is where we sat.
It's the cutest little place. Inside is decorated to look like outside, with a couple of little rooms which are supposed to look like they're storefronts or restaurants. The food I've had there in the past has been delicious! Burgers, Greek salad and some kind of curry chicken pasta I can hardly remember. This time I was not quite as impressed. The menu has changed a lot, and it was not that exciting to me. The french firs and sweet potato fries were both very very good though. The atmosphere is still as cute as ever though.
