Happy Birthday Daddy.

My Dad's birthday was at the beginning of the month, and I am an awful daughter for taking so long to get this up here. Here it is though.
I love my dad. I like to think I have a good relationship with him. We don't say much to each other, but that doesn't mean we can't. I know I could talk with him about anything I needed to. I trust him and his advice, and know he loves me and wants what's best for me.
Dad, if you're reading this, you're not allowed to look past the pictures. There is top secret, hidden information there for your next birthday celebration. You'll just have to wait...and also, I've got more to say for Fathers' Day so stay tuned.
Are we loving these pictures all? I sure am. 3 Things:
1. My dad loves Mexican food. I don't know if I remember a birthday when he didn't want fajitas (except one when we had chicken cordon bleu).
2. I think he hates pictures - that's why they're all blurry. He doesn't pose for long.
3. He loves music, this I know. That box on his lap is full of about 7 or 8 CDs for the van for him. I guarantee he knows every word to every song, and probably what it means and why it was written and when and etc.
Top Secret:
I came up with this idea a few years ago that I am very excited about. I thought it was a cool gift idea, but turns out I now think it is perfect for my Dad, for his life lately and for something I think he needs. I've decided to give to my Dad, on his 50th birthday, 50 letters from people about how he's affected their lives and what he means to them. I don't think my dad understands how many people love him and appreciate him, but I know it's about time he did.
This is exciting for me now because he turned 49. I've been so excited about this and wanting to get it started and make it perfect since the day the idea was born in my brain. I decided that I would start after he turned 49 and take that year to tell people about it, give them time to think and to fit it in to their busy schedules, and collect them all before his 50th birthday so I can put them together. I can't wait to get this started and to make it happen. If you're reading this and would like to be a part of it, I know it's early now but please let me know. I have some people in mind already, but may need more and I would never want to leave someone out who has things to say that I didn't know about.
I am just so excited about all this, but also can't believe that my dad will soon be 50 years old. I almost remember when my grandpas were 50! haha

Happy Birthday Daddy. I love you!

  1. This post made me smile, but also pretty sad. Haig and I were just talking about it the other day and he said that he will be sad that he will be missing the big 5.0. You will HAVE to make sure you get a letter from him (I am sure you were already planning it!)
